Acupuncture

What is Acupuncture?
Acupuncture is a form of treatment that has evolved over more than 4000 years to the present day. Treatment involves placing very fine needles into specific points on the body, which access the body's life force or 'Qi'
What Can Acupuncture Treat?
Acupuncture has been shown to be effective for a wide range of conditions, from Migraine, back problems and other physical complaints to emotional problems such as PMT and depression. Acupuncture can also treat addictions, allergies and digestive problems such as IBS.
How Does it work?
The insertion of an acupuncture needle accesses and stimulates the nerves in muscles and skin to release the body's natural painkillers, endorphins and seratonin. The Eastern philosophy is that insertion of a needle promotes the smooth flow of Qi through the body which is necessary for the well being of body and mind.
Is it Safe?
This practitioner uses fresh needles for each treatment and there is therefore no risk of disease transmission. The treatment itself is considered to be very safe although as with all therapies certain contra-indications can exsit. Therefore acupuncture may not be suitible for all patients, Rosemary will, of course, advise you if this is the case and suggest other treatments.
